We are pleased to announce the release of FreeM 0.62.1
New features in this release include:
* Add object-oriented programming features
* Add multi-environment support
* Add support for shedding privileges and -g and -u flags to support this
* Add the ability to create Solaris packages
* Add the ability to create Debian packages
* Begin MWAPI support using the Motif widget set
* Add memory-backed globals for use with formally global-backed SSVNs
that do not need to persist beyond sessions
Binary packages are available (see
https://freem.coherent-logic.com/downloads.cfm) for the following platforms:
* Debian GNU/Linux Bookworm, Bullseye, and Trixie on amd64, i386, armhf,
and arm64 (this includes Mobian Phosh on the Pine Phone)
* Ubuntu Noble and Oracular on amd64, armhf, and arm64
* Solaris 8 on sparcv9
* OpenIndiana Hipster
Source is of course available, and is known to build and run on:
* FreeBSD
* OpenBSD
* NetBSD
* GNU/Linux
* Solaris on SPARC and Intel
Ports we have yet to verify for this release:
* macOS
* Cygwin
* WSL/WSL2
* IBM AIX 5L 5.1
* Compaq Tru64 UNIX 5.1B
* SCO OpenServer 5.0.7
Ports known to be broken:
* GNU HURD (due to lack of shared memory support)
